The Human Rights Watch International Film Festival

In 2000, IINE co-sponsored the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival in Boston, a collaboration that brought global human rights cinema to local audiences. The festival showcased thirty films from twelve countries, including documentaries, fiction, and animation, each highlighting critical human rights issues.

Building on this commitment, IINE launched the Suitcase Stories program, a storytelling series that shares the personal migration experiences of refugees and immigrants. Through live performances and public television broadcasts, Suitcase Stories offers audiences a deeper understanding of the complexities of migration, moving beyond headlines to the human experiences behind them. This program continues to be a vital part of IINE’s efforts to educate the public and advocate for the rights and dignity of displaced individuals.
